    Can i use my windows 7 product key on a new computer ?

    Hello, i want to switch my computer and to abandon the old one. I want to know if i can use my original windows 7 on the new one , since i payed for it.
    From what some friends told me, i can only use it on the same pc i used it first, don't know why ...

    Yes you can. You can use your product key on only one computer at any time. Just make sure you install the same version of windows as it was for your product key.

    Actually it depends on the product you bought. If you got OEM Windows 7 , then sadly you can only use it on the same computer that it was first activated on. If it was a retail Windows 7 version , then is the case Zniper told - you can use it on any computer, but only on up to one computer at any one time.
    Also there is an Family Pack Windows 7 pack, which is not the case here.

    Well i am not sure but you can use it. If you purchase the license for one computer than it is possible when you update the windows of your new PC. It will give you warning that you are using pirated copy.
