How to view/retrieve my Windows XP serial number?

I need to retrieve my Windows XP serial number, for a bunch of computers at work. Unfortunately, the IT guys that hard installed those system, forgot to add the stickers on the cases...so I need to software find out the keys.

How's that made?

well, i can't test right now how you can check it directly from XP, I don't have it installed no more. however, you can install a small application that will tell you instantly. transfer it on a stick and go to each computer and double click it...cake right?

if I remember correctly, there's also another option, directly from XP, but I think the user needs administrator rights.

go to the folder windows/system32 and look for the file $WINNT$.INF ..you need to view it and again, if my memory serves, somewhere at the top there's a [User Data] with a certain ProductId or ProductKey...something
