10 Upcoming iOS Games to get Excited About

There are plenty of awesome games for iOS on the horizon, and a handful are coming within the next couple of weeks. There are also some games aiming for a fall release that you should definitely be keeping an eye on. If you are looking for some games to get hyped up for, you’re in the right place! Read on for a list of 10 awesome looking games that will be coming soon to the App Store.

SwapQuest

Aiming for an October release, SwapQuest is a 16-bit RPG/Puzzler game that looks doesn’t look identical to anything we have seen before. The concept of exploring a fantasy world with dungeons, battling monsters and other various enemies, all while collecting loot — isn’t exactly brand new. However, the puzzle twist on the game’s combat system looks very promising, and this is definitely a game to keep an eye on. No word on price for SwapQuest as of yet.

Tactics Maiden

Tactics Maiden is going to be a turn-based Strategy/RPG game, and the developer promises it to be fast-paced and challenging. One of the intriguing factors about this game, is the extensive list of classes and skills that can be played/learned. The game is going to feature 36 unique classes, 60+ abilities, and over 1000 different items that can be equipped. Skill points can be re-assigned at will, which will really bring out the strategy aspects.

Beta Testing was recently wrapped up for this game, and it looks like it will be released anytime in the next few weeks, possibly before the end of August. Tactics Maiden will be free through the first 7 scenarios of the game, but the full version will be $4.99. This game will also be released on Android.

BioShock

Not much needs to be said about this one, and I’m sure most of you already knew about it. For those out of the loop, the original BioShock which was released for Xbox 360 several years ago, is going to be ported to iOS. It should be out this Fall, and since quite a few sites have already played and reviewed it, I would be surprised if it gets delayed.

The Banner Saga

Yet another turn-based RPG game to be on the lookout for, this one will likely be a bit further down the road (for iOS at least). It is going to release on PC/Mac before being ported to iOS, but judging from the trailer and what is known about the game, it will definitely be worth the wait. The Banner Saga is being developed by several people that used to work for Bioware, so that alone tells you the caliber of talent behind this game.

Seabeard

This game has just recently gone into beta, so we could possibly see a release sometime in the next couple of months. Seabeard looks to have a massive world with plenty of things to do, and a lot of people are excited for this one. It is going to be a free game with some IAPs, but the developers have said there won’t be a huge emphasis on these, and they certainly won’t become a requirement; time will tell, but for now we have to take their word.

Be on the lookout for this one come late September/October, as the release was originally planned for this summer, so they are likely to get this out as soon as possible.

Supermassive

As you can see from the short trailer, this is going to be a fast paced, action packed side-scrolling 2D space shooter. We don’t know too much about this game, other than it should be coming soon. Pricing and exact release details are TBA, but they are aiming for a Fall release. It definitely looks awesome, and the trailer has me pumped, but I’d still like to know more about the unique features of the game (if there are any).

Phantom Rift

If you have ever played the Megaman Battle Network series for Gameboy, this game is going to seem vaguely familiar to you. The developers are advertising it as a combination between those games, and the popular PC/mobile game Bastion. It looks really interesting, and seems like there is quite a bit of content packed in as well — and that’s always a nice way to accompany a unique gameplay system.

The release is scheduled for Q3 2014, so hopefully we will get more details about this game soon! Pricing is unknown at this point.

Forgotten Memories

Although this game has been repeatedly delayed, and seems like it may never come out at this point, it is still one of the most highly anticipated games coming to iOS. Forgotten Memories will be a adventure game with a horror/thriller theme. There are a ton of unique aspects to this game, and the story looks really intriguing.

The game has apparently been very close to release for a while, but keeps getting pushed out more and more. The developer has even said it would be out within a couple of weeks, but still no release. Keep one eye open for this game, because it could be out soon, and if it is you will most definitely want to check it out.

Dungeon Defenders Eternity

Dungeon Defenders Eternity is the follow-up to the popular Dungeon Defenders series. This game has already been released on Android, but is going to be released for iOS at some point in the near future. If you’ve got an Android device, you can start playing now, and when the new version is released you can pick up where you left off on your iOS device. This is a game fans of the series will likely be interested in, and if you haven’t heard of Dungeon Defenders before, check it out!

Spooklands

I am personally very excited for this game, which is coming out next Thursday. There’s nothing too special about it, but it reminds me so much of Super Smash TV for the SNES, which was a fantastic game. It will only be $0.99, which hopefully means no IAPs, and it can just be a nice little game that I can enjoy to it’s full extent.
