Nuntius tweak lets you customize the stock Messages app on your iPhone

Having a jailbroken iPhone comes with an endless set of perks, depending on what tweaks you install on your devices. Nevertheless, if you want to customize the stock Messages app on your iPhone, Nuntius is one of the best Cydia tweaks for the purpose.

Nuntius offers quite a few useful features that will greatly expand the functionality of the Messaged app. For example, it allows you to pin conversations so they’ll remain at the top of the list. You can also hide/unhide any conversation by tapping and holding on the item in the conversations list, or mark it as read or unread by swiping left or right.

The tweak enables you to quickly switch between iMessage and SMS by tapping and holding on the Send button, plus you can define a maximum number of messages to be loaded. Another interesting option is the ability to disable the typing indicator, so others won’t see that you’re currently writing a message.

Nuntius preferences

There’s a lot more you can do with Nuntius tweak, but for that, you need to go to its preferences screen in Settings. The options are grouped into three categories: General , Conversation View, and Messages View.

You can change the global tint color, choose a darker keyboard, a lighter Status bar and customize the navigation bar color in the General menu. The Conversation View pane allows you to enable/disable pin, mark and hide conversations features, as well as set different colors for numerous UI elements such as the background, selected cell, preview, sender and date text, plus you can hide chevrons and separators, and opt to display contact photos from the same menu.

More personalization options are accessible in Messages View, where you can set a custom background color or image and modify the bubble color of the receiver and sender, among others.

If you’re interested in trying it, you can find it on Cydia’s BigBoss repo for $1.49. Nuntius tweak comes with an extensive set of customizations for Messages and even if you’re not interested in changing the looks of the app, the functional options it can add are well worth its price.
