[Tip] Access the Samsung Galaxy S7 notification drawer without swiping down (perfect for one-handed use)

We often use our smartphones with one hand, simply because the other one is not available. Of course, there are times when we shouldn’t be doing this (such as while driving or riding a bike) but when we can, it may be difficult to perform various actions, especially on large screens.

Those that own a Samsung Galaxy S7 and have small hands know what I’m talking about. Of course, the S7 has a one-handed mode, but not everyone likes it. One of the most common actions is to pull down the notification shade, and without one-handed mode, it can be uncomfortable to stretch one of your fingers all the way up to swipe down and open it.

Today I’ll show you an easy way to access the Samsung Galaxy S7 notification drawer without swiping down, and obviously, without one-handed mode. You also won’t need to install a third-party launcher or any other app for that matter.

How to access the Samsung Galaxy S7 notification drawer without swiping down

The whole trick relies on the Accessibility options available in the Settings app so here’s what you need to do if you want to access the Samsung Galaxy S7 notification drawer without swiping down.

Navigate to Settings -> Accessibility -> Dexterity and Interaction -> Assistant Menu.

Now enable the Assistant Menu option and a floating circle icon will appear on the right edge of the screen.

Press and hold the floating icon to move it to a suitable position where you can easily reach it with your thumb (we’re striving for one-handed use here).

If you tap on the floating button, it will open the Assistant Menu. One of its default shortcuts is exactly the ‘Notification Panel’. This lets you access the Samsung Galaxy S7 notification drawer without swiping down. Instead, all you need to do is perform two quick taps.

As you can see, this is extremely convenient, plus the Assistant Menu has many more shortcuts but also the option to customize them so it can definitely serve as an alternative to one-handed mode for much more than swiping down the notifications shade.
