Each OS has its own strengths and flaws and one of the things iPhone users might be craving, is the ability to place home screen icons anywhere. If you’d like to add empty spaces between Home Screen icons on iOS, there’s a neat trick that lets you do it.
The trick works by creating home screen icons which blend into your iPhone’s wallpaper, thus appear to be invisible. It’s a bit raw, as there is no empty space, although it does look like it.
Add empty spaces between Home Screen icons on iOS
This can be achieved by using an online tool called iEmpty, so keep reading to learn how to use it.
Tap and hold an icon on your home screen to make the icons shake and swipe to the left until you reach the blank page.
Now, take a screenshot of it, and open iempty.tooliphone.net in your Safari browser.
Select ‘Customize‘ and then ‘CUSTOM Mode‘.
Tap on ‘Add‘ and select the ‘Choose File‘ option. Tap on ‘Photo Library‘, locate the screenshot you just saved, select it and then tap on ‘Upload Photo‘.
A preview of the screenshot should now be displayed with an overlay of icon positions. Simply tap the ones you want to render invisible. iEmpty will then create a custom icon for you, so tap Share, then Add to Home Screen and finally tap once more on Add.
You can create as many blank spaces as needed on the home screen by selecting more icons on the screenshot preview and repeating the steps described above. Now, all you need to do is head back to your home screen and reposition the new icons according to the placement you selected on the grid preview in the web interface. This is needed, in order to turn them invisible.
That’s it! Now you know how to add empty spaces between Home Screen icons on iOS using iEmpty. The best part is, you don’t need a jailbroken device for the trick to work and since it’s not a system bug, the changes persist after a restart and Apple won’t make it go away in a future update.
