For some reason, Microsoft considered Hibernate as not being useful enough to be included in the Start menu power options, so it is not available by default. Luckily, you can add the Hibernate option to Windows 10 Power Menu with just a few clicks, if you want to access it quickly as needed.
Hibernation is a hybrid between sleep and a full system shutdown, that notebooks and tablets benefit most from. The current state of the system is saved before entering hibernation, so your computer will consume a very low amount of power, but also allow you to the previous state, meaning you’ll find all your files, apps, browser tabs and whatnot open exactly as you left them.

How to add the Hibernate option to Windows 10 Power Menu
So you can see how it can be a valid alternative to sleep, especially when you know you won’t be in front of your computer for a few hours, but it would also be a chore to close a dozen or so apps and lose all your browser tabs only to have to open them again after a system boot.
With that said, here’s how you can easily add the Hibernate option to Windows 10 Power Menu.
Click the Start button and type ‘power options’ to access Cortana’s search. Then, click on the first result (Power Options – Control Panel) to continue.
Now click on the ‘Choose what the power buttons do’ option.
Click on the ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’ option.
Now all you have left to do is to scroll down a bit and check the box next to the Hibernate option. From then on you will have it available in the Start menu power options.
