Android’s AccuWeather received a major update today which includes Android Wear support. Before the update you could see weather information on your wrist, but now you can open it right on your smartwatch, using your voice or from the app list.
This is great news for anyone that wants to make the most of their Android Wear as AccuWeather’s latest update includes more useful features such as MinuteCast – a new precipitation forecast that’s supposed to give you new updates every minute for your current location, narrowed down to the street address.
Information you can view on your smartwatch includes weather alerts, forecasts, current conditions and precipitation. This seems great and all, but user feedback shows the update may have scrambled things a bit as they’re experiencing some forecast inconsistencies and other errors. Hopefully, these will be fixed soon, since AccuWeather was a reliable and extremely functional weather app before the update.
AccuWeather has a free, add-supported version and a paid one in which the ads are removed – and it’s definitely worth the small investment if this is your main weather app, especially if you’re also the owner of an Android Wear. Other than the presence or lack of adds, the two app versions bring exactly the same features and functionality.
