ASProxy Wing: Simple proxy tool

ASProxy Wing is a freeware application that you can use to set up proxies in both your home computer and your server in a simple package.

Installation & Requirements

There is no setup required for the application. You only need to download the files, extract them in a folder of your choice and then run the application’s executable file. The supported operating systems are Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8. You will need to have Microsoft’s .NET Framework 2.0 or higher installed as well.

The interface of ASProxy Wing is really quite simple. In the main interface you can see the Active Servers and the Current Status as well as configure a few quick options. Adding the servers however is a longer process. You will need to find a proxy server on your own and add it to the application in order for it to work.

It is a good thing then that the whole process is very simple. On the bottom left corner of the application you will notice the Add/Edit Servers button. Clicking on that will take you to the servers’ configuration window where you will be able to add your own custom servers or edit your already existing ones. To add a server, click on the New Server button. You will need to enter the server’s URL as well as the login details if there are any by checking the authentication box.

If you want to install your own server, you can click on the bottom link. That link will take you to an installation help document on the internet that details the whole process of acquiring and installing your own server into the application using some third party websites and utilities.

When you have added a new server, you can check its status on the main interface. Further configuration of the application is also possible either by the checkboxes in the top right corner of the main window or by clicking on the Config button. You can even set the application to work as a double proxy as well as set a specific time interval for the application to check the servers in order for them to always be available. You can also set up different ports if the default one is not working for you.

-No installation required and a small file size
-Clean interface
-Easy to use and configure
-Helpful documentation provides further customization options

-It might take new users quite some time to configure the application

Since ASProxy Wing is free and has a decent proxy server support, you should definitely try it out. However, you will also need to spend some time searching for proxies and setting them up yourself so keep that in mind.
