Windows 10 has brought us an overhauled Action Center, and a slightly different notification system as well. The Windows 10 notifications appear from the lower-right area of the screen, replacing the old balloons that were popping out of the system tray. You might want to change notifications display time in Windows 10, and there are various reasons why this can be useful.
The default display duration for Windows 10 notifications is 5 seconds which is the lowest amount of time they can be set to stay on.
If you (or someone else) tampered with these settings, then you are likely seeing notifications for a longer period of time, which can be distracting. On the other hand, you might find 5 seconds insufficient, in which case you can set a longer time period for notifications to remain on screen.
Either way, I’m going to show you how you can easily change notifications display time in Windows 10.
How to change notifications display time in Windows 10
Head over to Settings -> Ease of Access and click or tap on Other options.
The ‘Show notifications for‘ option has a drop-down menu. Click on it and you can change the duration or which notification popups remain on screen. As you can see there are several options ranging between 5 seconds and 5 minutes, but you cannot set the time period to be shorter or longer than that.
Note: If you’d like to configure other aspects of Windows 10’s notification system you can do that from Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions.
