Double Fine’s Broken Age is a hallmark of crowdfunded gaming as the buzz that surrounded the project’s Kickstarter campaign led to a huge surge in similar projects and spawned a myriad of discussions over crowdfunding, indie development and more. Now, almost a year after the game first made its Act 1 mobile debut on iOS, Android users can join in the fun with the complete version of the game while Apple fans will finally get their hands on Act 2 within the updated game.

In case you have somehow missed everything about Broken Age, the game is a point-and-click adventure game with throwbacks to older titles from companies like LucasArts and an art style that is as charming as anything Double Fine has ever done. Players will take control of two separate characters: Vella, a girl who is destined to become a sacrifice in her village, and Shay, a boy who is trapped on a spaceship controlled by an artificial intelligence unit.

The game features an ensemble cast of voice actors that include Elijah Wood, Masasa Moyo, Jack Black, Jennifer Hale, Wil Wheaton and Pendleton Ward with an incredibly moving story that all ages can relate to. And I simply cannot say enough about the art style that also happens to put a face in pretty much everything, including spoons. The game’s puzzles are said to be quite challenging, sometimes in an overbearing degree, but I guess fans of classic adventures games will feel right at home.

I simply cannot recommend the game enough, regardless of the platform you play it on. I have only played the game on PC so far and, in my opinion, Double Fine has once again delivered a fantastic title that you will grow to absolutely adore. Whereas there are plenty of criticisms to be made about a game, the sheer charm it oozes is irresistible.
