Every time a new and exclusive feature is released with a flagship, owners of older devices instantly begin to crave it. Such is the case of the new Always On Display feature available on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
There are several Android apps with functionality similar to Always On Display but if you already own a Samsung Galaxy S7, they can bring little to no value. Nevertheless, since you can access the original feature, know that it can be tweaked in several ways.
This feature may be new but it relies on the not-so-new capabilities of Super AMOLED displays, allowing you to see information at a glance without waking up the screen and with extremely low battery usage.
If you’re looking to customize the Always On Display on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, we’ll tell you all about it below.
How to customize the Always On display on Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 edge
Swipe down to open the notifications drawer and tap on the Always On Display shortcut. You can also access the feature’s options via Settings -> Display.
From this screen, you can toggle Always On Display on and off as you please, but for the purpose of this guide, we’ll take a look at the other available options. Tap on ‘Content to show‘ to continue.
Select ‘Clock‘ from the drop-down menu and then ‘Clock Style‘ to personalize the clock.
Select one of the available watch faces.
If you want Always On Display to show a calendar, simply go back to the ‘Content to show‘ drop-down menu and select the option from there. However, there are only two calendar styles to choose from, at least for now.
The ‘Content to show‘ menu also allows you to select a wallpaper (by tapping on the ‘Image‘ option) for your Always On Display, although only three of them are available. Nevertheless, you can easily download more themes from the Samsung themes store, and each of those has a different Always On Display theme.
