[Quick Tip] Disable vibration when locking your iPhone in iOS 10

iOS 10 comes with new haptic feedback features and one of them will produce a subtle vibration when you lock the screen. Some users like haptic feedback (and there are even tweaks designed for this purpose) but if you’re not a fan you can easily disable vibration when locking your iPhone in iOS 10.

There’s a small downside to this – it seems the screen-lock vibration is included in the system “Lock Sounds” feature and disabling it will also disable all lock screen haptic feedback.

How to disable vibration when locking your iPhone

Nevertheless, assuming you want your iOS device to be silent as you’re locking/unlocking the screen, here’s how to disable vibration when locking your iPhone in iOS 10:

disable vibration when locking your iPhone

Open the Settings app and go to Sounds.

On the Sounds settings screen, you will find the Lock Sounds option toward the bottom of the menu. All you need to do is toggle the switch next to this setting to turn the slider button white and you iPhone or iPad won’t vibrate when you lock the screen.

The same screen has the Keyboard Clicks option, so if you’re annoyed by the clicking sound your keyboard makes as you’re typing you can silence it by toggling off this setting as well.
