Driver Genius: Manage all of your drivers

Finding, installing and uninstalling drivers can be very time consuming and hard work for people that are not really experienced in computers. Driver Genius helps people manage all their driver needs in one simple package.

Installation & Requirements

Installing the software is very easy, with the added ability to choose from a variety of languages. The supported operating systems are Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and 8 as well as Windows Servers 2003/2008/2008 R2 and 2012.

Interface

The first time you start the application you will be greeted by the scan window. There you can choose to start a first scan of your computer in order to determine which of your drivers need updating. You can completely skip this step if you want as you can always start the scanner from the application later on. The visuals of the interface are very reminiscent of various Windows panels, giving the program a very familiar look and feel.

Located in the left of the interface are the various options that the application offers to its users. As you will notice, it offers more options than traditional driver updating software. You obviously have all the standard options of scanning your computer for outdated drivers and then having the program automatically update them. The process works quite well as it found all of my unfortunately out-of-date drivers and prompted me to fix the situation immediately as such drivers might slow my system down.

If you are unsure about letting the application handle your driver updates or if you believe that the current drivers might be buggy or just not for you, you can always backup your drivers and restore them though the application. You can either backup all of your drivers, divided into Currently Used Drivers and Original Windows Drivers, or scroll through them to pick the specific drivers you want to back up. Those drivers can then be easily restored with the application as it will automatically detect drivers it has already backed. Even if you have manually done that, you can browse your computer to find the backup files and the application will load them. You can also completely uninstall redundant drivers or buggy ones if you wish.

Lastly, you can also gain information about your hardware in the respective tab of the application. You will get surprisingly detailed information about each piece of your computer which can prove to be extremely useful. If you do not have internet in your device at any particular moment you can write down your system specifications and search for drivers from another computer and then load them to the application.

Conclusion

Driver Genius is truly a magnificent package. There are so many options in this small application that it would be a shame for people not to try it. It really is one of the most complete driver managers out there and I would recommend it to anyone.
