It turns out we will never know everything about iOS. A hidden one-handed keyboard was just discovered in iPhone. Why it’s not available for the public, no one knows, but it is possible to enable the hidden one-handed iPhone keyboard if your devices is jailbroken.
Normally, you can activate this keyboard using the simulator in XCode, but a new tweak called OneHanded makes things so much easier.
How to enable the hidden one-handed iPhone keyboard
The one-handed keyboard is designed to make it easier to type with one hand on larger displays and currently supports iPhone models that have 4.7 or 5.5-inch screens.
To enable the hidden one-handed iPhone keyboard you must first install the OneHanded jailbreak tweak which is available for free in Cydia’s BigBoss repository.
With the tweak installed you can swipe in from the right or left side of the stock iOS keyboard to activate the one-handed version. It has smaller keys that make it easier to type using one hand, and several essential text editing shortcuts ,namely cut, copy, paste and undo. The default keyboard also has these shortcuts, but you would need to press on the text field to view them, which is not the case in one-handed mode.
Once you’re done using the one-handed keyboard you can swipe on from the opposite side of the text editing shortcuts to return the regular stock keyboard on your iPhone’s screen.
The animations are not 100% fluid but that’s understandable considering this feature is hidden and was never released to the public.
Since the OneHanded tweak is free, it’s definitely worth a try if you have a jailbroken iPhone running iOS 8 or 9.
