The Fleksy keyboard app, formerly priced at $1.99 is now free and offers in-app purchases. The company decided to switch their business model because they believe the free app will be more appealing to a larger and diverse user base.
Kosta Eleftheriou, Fleksy’s Co-Founder and CEO says:
“We want every smartphone user to have the opportunity to experience fast, expressive, and intuitive typing,”(…) “We believe the best way to do this is to make the app free for everyone.”
Those who already bought the app will receive $8 worth of IAPs, consisting of various themes and extension slots. In case you didn’t know, Fleksy is all about extensions, which can make the app as functional as you’d like.
Along with the new business model, the app received an update that introduces Highlights, a rich content view that helps users discover more relevant content, including GIFs and stickers, based on what they type. The #highlight offers one tap access to stickers, GIFs and other content in a single location, much more convenient than manually searching for them in separate pages.
The update also added several new themes and emojis, optimizations in several areas of the app (including a slightly smaller APK), and the usual bug fixes among others. If Fleksy wasn’t very tempting as a paid app, there’s certainly no harm in trying it now. Head over to the Play Store to download and install the app, then let us know how you like it!
