FX Graph: A simple yet powerful graph tool

Although most graphing tools are overly complicated and require a lot of technical knowledge to operate them, FX Graph begs to differ by providing a simple but surprisingly deep application for everyone.

Installation & Requirements

During the installation you will be asked to close Microsoft Word if you currently have it open. This is because the application can integrate itself into Word by choosing the appropriate option during the setup. You will also be asked about the license you prefer as the application simply offers a free 30 day trial version. The supported operating systems are Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8 as well as Mac OS 10.6 and later.

Interface

When you start the application for the first time you will notice a very simple and basic default graph. In the top of the window there is the toolbar and the help manual which is very detailed and should explain any question you have about using FX Graph.

Right clicking takes you to the editing interface. One of the most prominent features of the application is the Quick Entry module. Here you can quickly edit and add a new graph with a lot of basic options in a few seconds. It is extremely useful if you want to use basic graphs or if you want a specific type to be inserted each time but you do not want to waste your time by fiddling around with the settings.

In the same editing window you will also find all of the other options for the graph creation and editing. Those are a lot more comprehensive than the Quick Entry utility but you will have to spend more time here. Each part of the graph like the axes, the scales and the functions can be edited to your heart’s content. Mathematical knowledge about graphs is obviously needed but you will find the graph editor simple to use but very deep in its functionality. You can even edit the colours to distinguish each graph. Every graph can also be saved, copied and printed with no limitations so that you can share your graphs with anyone who owns the application.

The integration with Word and PowerPoint are also seamless. When you open any word document you will notice a new tab in the top named Efofex for the developers of FX Graph. Simply click on that and you can open a new graph which will automatically be inserted into word as you edit it. You can then share that document with whoever you want.

Pros

-Word and PowerPoint integration
-Simple to use interface
-Extremely detailed settings and options for each and every aspect of the graphs
-Accessible yet complex at the same time

Cons

-None that would be worth mentioning

Conclusion

FX Graph has truly accomplished what its creators set out to do. It is an amazingly complex graph editing utility that can be accessed by all kinds of pupils and teachers and it can surely be a very powerful teaching tool that should not be missed by anyone.
