iOS has always provided limited options when it comes to visual customization and Apple doesn’t seem in a rush to give us a dark mode, despite repeated rumors on the topic. If you’d like to give iOS 10 a fresh look in a simple way, it is possible to get a black dock and folders on your iPhone’s home screen.
There have been other similar customizations available. Remember the round folders trick?
How to get a black dock and folders on your iPhone’s home screen
It worked if you used a special wallpaper, and you can use a very similar trick to get a black dock and folders on your iPhone’s screen. Oh….and also dark widgets.
As long as your iPhone is running iOS 10 or a newer version, you can follow the steps below to get the dark folders and dock on the home screen.
The first thing you need to do is to download a 1-pixel height wallpaper from the link below. There are 52 color choices so whichever you select be aware it will be your home’s screen’s background color. Long-press on the one you want to download then tap on ‘Save Image’ from the pop-up menu.

Now go to the Settings app and open the Wallpaper menu. Tap on ‘Camera Roll’ and select the image you just downloaded, then tap on ‘Set’ and select ‘Set Home Screen’.
You’re finished. It was pretty easy, right? Now you can return to the home screen to see if you like your new black dock and folders. Also, you will notice the iOS widgets have also received a darker tint. If you find that you don’t like the background color you can go back to the download link mentioned above and choose a different color.
It might take some experimenting but there are plenty of color choices available, so I’m sure you will find one you like.
