Before our smartphones were flawless GPS navigation devices, we had to rely on the classic paper maps to get guidance. Now, we don’t just have a small interactive map in the palm of our hand, we can also get navigation instructions and simply follow them to reach our destination. Today, I’ll show you an easy way to get directions to home or work on iPhone with 3D Touch, which are basically the two most commonly visited locations for any person on this planet.
The directions to home or work features are not new and both Apple Maps and Google Maps have it, and probably any other self-respecting maps app.
How to get directions to home or work on iPhone with 3D Touch
A quick way to get these instructions would be to use Siri, but not everyone likes to talk to the assistant and typing will only slow you down unnecessarily. So 3D Touch it is, at least if you own an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus.
You can quickly get directions to home or work on iPhone with 3D Touch, there not much to it, really. Here’s how you can do it:
Firstly, for this to work, you will need to have filled in your personal contact data in iOS, specifically your home and/or work addresses, depending on whether you want to use just one or both directions.
Since you can use both Apple Maps and Google Maps to get directions to home or work on iPhone with 3D Touch, you can use any of the two apps. As a result, you can start by force-pressing the Apple Maps or Google Maps icon.
From the quick actions menu, select ‘Directions Home‘ or ‘Directions to Work‘.
Then, the Maps app will launch and all that’s left to do is to tap Start and you will receive directions to home or work from your current location.
Note: If you use Google Maps you will likely have to fill in your home and work address in the app’s settings.
Those who don’t own an iPhone with 3D Touch, obviously have no use of this feature, although you can simply search for ‘home’ or ‘work’ in the Maps app, and you will be able to select the location as a destination, provided you have entered your addresses in iOS. And like I already said, Siri is also an option, although I understand why some people feel uncomfortable talking to their phones, especially in public.
