Apple always makes sure their top flagship has some exclusive features no other iPhones have. For the iPhone 7 Plus, one of these features is the now famous Portrait Mode. But still, there’s good news for the rest of iPhone owners. It is possible to get the iPhone 7 Plus like Portrait Mode on any iPhone and one of the easiest ways to do it is with an app called Patch.
Patch is not the only app that can help you get the bokeh effect on your portrait photos, but it does provide one of the simplest methods to do it. Practically, this is all the app does, although the lack of additional features does make it less confusing. There are already plenty of established image editing apps we can rely on.

Patch works great most of the time, but when it fails you can manually tweak the photo to get that DSLR style depth effect just like you want it. You can use Patch to add the bokeh effect to any of the photos in your camera roll.
The app relies on neural network to detect the subject in a pic and automatically applies the depth effect to the background. Besides the ability to fix the results, it also provides multiple blur settings so the depth effect can be as subtle or as dramatic as you want.
You can download and try Patch for free from the App Store (download link below), but it will automatically add watermarks on the lower right side of your images. However, you can remove the watermark via an $1 in-app purchase.
In most cases, Patch will produce quality results, and while it’s not free, it is a simple and inexpensive way to get the iPhone 7 Plus like Portrait Mode on any iPhone. Have you tried Patch and what other similar apps can you recommend?
