Nokia’s popular HERE Maps finally is now present in the Play Store (although there’s still a BETA in the name). Up until now the app was only available from the official website as an APK download.
Even if Android has loads of free and paid navigation apps, HERE Maps comes with a few undeniable advantages. It’s reliable, offers turn-by-turn drive and walk voice guidance even offline, trip planning, public transport maps and real-time traffic information, plus it’s absolutely free.
Of course, that’s not all you get but these are some pretty useful features packed in a single app making HERE Maps a solid competitor to Google Maps and other strong mapping platforms. Along with the release of the Play Store edition, the app also received support for 18 new countries.
iOS users may be a little disappointed as Nokia says the app won’t be available for the platform until early 2015.
