GIFs are so frequently used in conversations they are becoming an integral part of most operating systems. Starting with Android 7.1, you can send them directly from Google Keyboard. While not exactly intuitive you can quickly learn how to send GIFs with Google Keyboard in Android Nougat.
And once you find out how, you’ll realize it’s actually easy and convenient.
How to send GIFs with Google Keyboard in Android Nougat
While writing a message tap on the smiley icon to access the emoji screen. A GIF button becomes available in the lower-right part of the screen. Tap on it to continue.
Now you should be seeing the suggestions screen. Here you can browse the categories and once you find a GIF you’d like to share in the conversation, tap on it.
Furthermore, if you need something specific you can use the “Search GIFs” option to find it quickly.
For now, you can only send GIFs with Google Keyboard in Android Nougat, version 7.1 and it works for a limited set of apps. Nevertheless, it won’t be Pixel exclusive for much longer and Nexus devices are first in line.
