Athan (Azan) Basic: A lightweight app that plays automatic Athan five times a day at every prayer time

Athan (Azan) Basic is a friendly piece of software that allows you to find the Qiblah direction and reminds you of your prayer times. With the ability to calculate and display the prayer times for six million cities from all over the world, the application was created for Muslims who don't live in their country.

When you launch Athan (Azan) Basic for the first time, you'll be prompted to select your exact location (country and city) which is necessary for the application to work as intended. It will automatically detect the geographical coordinates and lets you enable or disable daylight saving.

In the main window you will find the current time and date, prayer times for the current day, the calculation method, and location. There's also a compact view which displays only the 'Select Athan' pane and the prayer times.

You can use the program to ring the Athan, the traditional call-to-prayer. By default, the application remains hidden in the system tray and automatically plays the notification sound for each of the five daily prayer times - Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. You can customize the notification sound by selecting Mahhah, Madina, Al-Aqsa, Egypt, or no Athan.

Regarding prayer calculation methods, Athan (Azan) basic lets you select from various options, specifically Muslim World League, Egyptian General Authority of Survey, University of Islamic Sciences, Umm Al-Qura, North America or Twilight Angle. On top of that, you can select the accuracy of the clock by adjusting the minutes for each prayer time.

There are other practical tools included such as the Athan text viewer, the special Islamic days viewer, the Hijri-Gregorian date converter, and a Quran recitation tool.
