If you’re a software developer than you know the seemginly endless number of steps you have to go through inorder to get your code into a form that can be tested. The process also involves generating makefiles and a related program to unify them. Compilation is significantly easier when your source code files are sorted in these ‚makefiles’ and CMake can help you with this.

Cmake is a powerful, open-source GUI utility that allows you to easily generate build files with essential configurations. You’ll have to locate the source folder and ensure the CmakeLists.txt file is stored inside it, so that the operation can be succesfully performed.

Then you have to specify the output directory and tweak the configuration settings – altough most of the work is done by the applicatoin. Once you’re pleased with the configuration you can click on the ‚Generate’ button and the build files will be created in the location you specified.
