Hydrus Network: A capable application designed to help you manage large media collections and re-organize them using tags instead of folders

If you have extensive collections of photos, videos or music stored on your PC, then you know it can become very difficult to properly manage them using only the built-in system capabilities.

Hydrus Network is a powerful piece of software that lets you manage and sort large media collections using an internal database in which items are categorized using tags. Also, the stored items can be shared through your own custom servers.

The application comes with a server component which you’ll have to connect and launch, before running the Hydrus Network client for the first time. After you start the program, you can load your media collections by dragging and dropping entire folders in the related section of the interface.

With Hydrus Network you can sort your media files using tags instead of folders. This facilitates searching for files, and it’s particularly useful to detect a group of photos that have been taken at the same place, at the same time.

You can use built-in tags, create custom tags and edit the existing ones. Furthermore, the app lets you rate your files by using the related option from the context menu. Among other interesting and useful capabilities you’ll find the option to customize the viewing mode for images that have a specific rating or tag, plus it offers a function that will automatically index and tag updates.
