Great software for modifying maps and plan future tripsJava OpenStreetMap Editor is a great application that is designed to assist any user in editing portions of maps, and also allowing you to plan ahead for a trip, while emphasize locations that you will need to reach.
The application comes with an interface that is a bit cluttered, which makes it a bit of a hassle for beginners and even experienced users, but the tooltips will inform you of any role each button has.
In order to start, you will need to load the map that you want to work on, supporting OSM, XML, JOZ, WMS, GPX, NMEA, JPG, etc., an they can be displayed using a variety of view modes (e.g. Bing Aerial Imagery, Mapbox Satellite, MapQuest Open Arial, OpenStreetMap (Mapnik), BANO, Cadastre, and few others).
After that you will be able to add elements to the map or modify the position and value of those already present, while also being able to add, delete or change nodes and ways, create areas or polygons, depending on the users need.
You will be able to save the map when its done on your computer or even export It to GPX format, in order to load on your GPS device.
Java OpenStreetMap Editor is a powerful and useful software that all users will be able to use in order to modify a map and plan ahead for future trips.
