LyX is an easy to use yet versatile application that lets you process text documents using the What You See Is What You Get or What You See Is What You Mean methods.

This open-source document processor simplifies document management and makes it easy to write scientific formulae thanks to its TeX / LaTeX support.

The application comes with rich support for various types of documents such as Word, RTF, OpenDocument, HTML, PDF and so on, and equally extensive support when it comes to import and export.

Regarding document outline and formatting, LyX offers basic editing options, but also advanced functions such as creating indexes, lists, labels, tables of contents, bibliographies and more.

It also includes a graphic module that lets you add photos and tables inside a document, as well as edit them. On top of that, you can easily create theorems, matrices and equations using the built-in formula editor.
