OpenJUMP

OpenJUMP: Complex program for reading and writing shapefiles and GML data.

OpenJUMP is a GIS, or Geographic Information System that comes with support for reading and writing shapefiles and GML data, and is also suitable for editing geometry and attribute information.

The installation process is pretty simple, and the application window isn’t that complicated, while it offers a clear view of the project screen and features the possibility to open multiple projects at once.

The program comes with a variety of tools, which are grouped into categories for better organization, while geometrical analysis functions are also present, like creating a buffer for a selected geometry or a new layer containing the Convex Hull of all the features in the layer.

All in all, OpenJUMP is a pretty complex program that tackles a domain that is not very popular and comes equipped with many flexible sets of options.
