OpenModelica: A great open-source enviroment for modeling simulation tools based on Modelica

OpenModelicais a free, open-source, and user-friendly environment for developing software based on Modelica, which is used in creating mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, and electrical components, while it is dedicated for parties from any domain, be it students, teachers, researchers, or even industrial workers.

The package, which you will need to download, includes all the necessary modules to work with Modelica-based models (e.g. like an interactive OpenModelica Shell (OMShell) and an advanced interactive compiler (OMC) with the goals to compile Modelica code to C for simulations).

The advanced interactive compiler (OMC) comes with an API available for querying Modelica code that can be used either as a Corba object or from the console interface.

It also comes with a graphical interface for editing Modelica code, called OpenModelica Connection Editor (OMEdit), that features support for Qt C++ libraries and syntax highlighting, while also featuring OpenModelica Python Interface (OMPython) that offers modeling and simulation features for Python.

All in all, OpenModelica is a great open-source environment for developing software that will satisfy the needs of most students, teachers, etc. that are looking for modeling simulation tools that are based on Modelica.
