Pandoc: Add document conversion capabilities to your apps with this Haskell library

Pandoc is a functional Haskell library that lets you add document conversion functionality to the applications you develop with support for a large number of formats such as HTML, ODT and RTF among others.

The program allows you to import and export various file formats, like LaTex, OPML, DocBook, HTML, markdown, MediaWiki, textile, EPUB and more. With Pandoc, your software will be able to quickly convert files between the above mentioned formats as it allows you to work with a large number of markdown syntax extensions.

The tool also provides support for macros to be used in markdown files and LaTex math, including the ability to work with native Word equations for DOCX files and extensive mathematical rendering in HTML.

What’s more, you can use Pandoc to translate the formatted citations and display them properly at the end of a document, since it uses the pandoc-citeproc component to flawlessly handle references and quotes. It offers support for many bibliography database forms, although bibtext, JSON, RIS, MODS and ISI are particularly useful.
