QTranslate: A lightweight piece of software that lets you easily translate texts between two different languages

QTranslate is a free application that can be extremely useful if you often need to translate texts as it offers a very simple way to perform this task.

With the tool installed, select a piece of text you need to translate, then use the hotkey Ctrl+Q and the translation will be displayed in a popup window. Alternatively you can double click the selected text and the translation will appear in the main window of the application.

If you press Ctrl+E, Qtranslate will speak the text and using Win+Q will launch a dictionary search. Another thing you can do is to manually type the text you want to translate in the main window of the program.

You should also know the application uses online translation services so you need to be connected to the Internet for it to work. It currently supports various popular translation services like Google Translate, Bing, Babylon, Baidu, Yandex.Translate and a few more.

In QTranslate’s settings you can enable translate by mouse selection which will display a translation icon you can click on, each time you select a piece of text. However, you can opt for another translation mode that displays the translation in a popup window as soon as you select the text.

The tool bundles various useful features like the ability to translate selected text from any application that supports it which includes web browsers, Skype, Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Word….etc. It can also search in both online and offline (XDXF) dictionaries and includes tools such as a spell checker, text to speech, word suggestion and autocomplete, translation history and a virtual keyboard.
