Raw Image Extension is an extension for the Windows Photos application that was designed to allow users to view and edit RAW image files that have been taken with a digital camera.

The most common formats in photography, are JPEG, or JPG, and RAW, as was stated above, and the difference between the two is that RAW images keep all the information since it was captured, while JPEG is compressed, in order for the image files to weigh less than the RAW photos, and the advantage of RAW files is that it can be processed more easily.

Users will not need proprietary software when using this extension, from the digital camera manufacturers in order to get access to the RAW photos, while even coming with support for multiple RAW formats to the Microsoft Photos app, and even use it to edit such images.

All in all, Raw Image Extension is a pretty lightweight extension that can be used for the Microsoft Photos app, which comes with support for RAW image files, which are most commonly used by photographers.
