Spark: A friendly Java-based instant messaging application suitable for both personal and business use

Spark is an easy to use open source Java-based IM client that offers a simple way to communicate and bundles numerous features such as voice calling, file transfers and group chat.

Setting up Spark is extremely easy as all you need to do is enter your user name, password and the server you want to connect to.

There are various aspects of the interface you can customize. For example, you can change colors but also other parameters in the comprehensive settings menu.

In the conversation window, you can view more details about the user you’re chatting with, take and share a screenshot, invite the user to a conference and send files among other things.

Furthermore, Spark has a “Buzz” option that can be used to draw a contact’s attention, a built-in spell checker and numerous options in the settings menu related to file transfers, notifications, privacy, media, group chat, appearance, sounds and more.
