TransTools: A useful set of translation tools designed for popular applications to improve your productivity

TransTools is a robust set of tools you can use in MS Word, Excel and Autodesk AutoCAD to translate documents faster, format them and check for spelling errors. If you’re a translator, this application can help increase your productivity while working in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and AutoCAD.

TransTools installs as an add-in in the above mentioned applications, thus you can find it in the Add-Ins section of these apps, as long as they were already installed on your system of course. The tool lets you format the document before the translation process, then translate it and verify spelling errors.

It relies on CAT tools to format the document prior to translation and as a result, it lets you hide/show parts of the document, find/replace/insert text, fix poor formatting, apply matching styles and other useful actions.

The application can also clean documents formatted in Trados, handle OCR resulting documents, extract graphics from the currently open file, add custom symbols, find and format numbers and pretranslate common text to the selected language.

You can use either manual or automatic localization so the program can find duplicate sections and double spaces in the text. It comes with multilingual support allowing you to define language pairs and customize their language check and localization settings.

Furthermore, TransTools can be of help for proof-reading, as it can help you ensure the translated text is correct. Among other useful features, you’ll be able to create glossaries and check the language post-translation, add text bookmarks and create to-do lists.
