How To: Unsubscribe from mailing lists in iOS 10 Mail app

Having too many email subscription can clutter your inbox really fast making it difficult to spot the useful messages you receive. Luckily, the iOS 10 Mail app makes it a bit easier to deal with subscriptions and remove unnecessary ones.

As we often get carried away and sign up for way too many newsletters, many of which we’re really not that interested in, there’s an easy way to unsubscribe from mailing lists in iOS 10.

How to unsubscribe from mailing lists in iOS 10 Mail app

In fact, the new Mail app in iOS 10 lets you quit any newsletter (or almost any) with the push of a button. Here’s how to do it:

On your iPhone or iPad, launch the Mail app.

Go to your inbox and choose a message that comes from a newsletter subscription and you’d like to opt out of.

Open the newsletter message and at the top a section saying “This message is from a mailing list” should be displayed. Below it, there should be an “Unsubscribe” option.

Tap it and confirm you want to unsubscribe on the following popup.

That’s pretty much it. The Mail app will send the unsubscribe email for you. Nevertheless, be aware not all newsletters will be detected as subscriptions (although most of them will). Also, some newsletters, especially the ones from large publications are divided into categories, sending you messages from different email addresses so you will need to unsubscribe from these separately.
