USB Secure is a shareware application that will let you protect all of your data that you store in your USB from users with malicious intent by letting you set a password.
Installation & Requirements
The installation is very simple but you will have to insert your flash drive into your computer as the application can only be installed in there. The supported operating systems are Windows XP to Windows 8 and Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012.
Interface
The program’s interface is quite basic as it requires a minimum amount of user input in order to operate. The first thing you will have to do is enter your password twice in order to start protecting your files. Then simply click on Protect and the protection process will begin automatically. All the files currently stored in your USB flash drive will be locked and no one will be able to access them. However, any new files you create will not have the protection and will be able to operate normally.
The protected files will all disappear and the only thing that will be visible in your flash drive will be the executable file for this application. In order to stop the file protection you will have to enter your keyboard again otherwise there is no way to access them. It should be noted that the trial version only lets you protect your files a certain amount of times. If you want to continue using the password protection after those uses expire then you will have to purchase a full license.
By going to the Options menu you will be able to set a few different modes for the application. For example, you can enable or disable Autoplay on your password-protected device. You can also execute USB Secure immediately when you insert your USB so that it always stays protected. This is extremely useful when you share your USB with others or when you fear you might lose it you do not want anyone to access your sensitive information. Furthermore, you can set a Master Key. This means that you can set a single USB flash drive that will lock and unlock all the other portable storage devices in your computer.
