If there’s something that can spice up any online conversations, GIFs are definitely it. iOS is gaining an increasing number of third-party keyboards that let you send GIFs and Giphy, the huge online GIF library just released a new one.
It’s called GIPHY Keys and it lets you access the entire GIF library and share any of the included animations directly from your keyboard in a simple and quick way.
We loved this idea, and the app’s friendly interface, so we took it for a spin to show you how it works. Here’s how you can use GIPHY Keys on your iPhone:
How to use GIPHY Keys on your iPhone
You can install GIPHY Keys from the link below:
Download GIPHY Keys (iTunes)
After the installation is complete, open the Settings app and navigate to General -> Keyboards and select the ‘Add New Keyboard’ option. From the list of options, select ‘GIPHY Keys‘ to enable the app.
On the next screen, tap the ‘GIPHY Keys‘ option and enable ‘Allow Full Access‘. Press the ‘Allow‘ button on the following popup to confirm your choice.
To use GIPHY Keys, simply select a text field, then tap and hold the globe icon on the keyboard layout. Drag your finger to the ‘GIPHY Keys’ option and release.
Now you can quickly find and share GIFs. GIPHY Keys works almost like the default iOS keyboard app and it also adds a new row of icons at the top of the keyboard from where you can explore various GIF categories.
You can even quickly search GIFs by keyword after you tap the icon in the top-left corner. To share a GIF, tap on it and then long-press the text field in any app with GIF support to paste it in the conversation.
Long-pressing a GIF available in the library provides additional options that let you share it via Facebook or Twitter, as well as copy the animation’s URL.
GIPHY Keys is exceptionally easy to use, and while there are many other third-party keyboards with GIF support, this app has a gigantic collection of GIFs that’s hard to compete with.
