Alarm apps have certainly been a step up from using traditional clocks – you can do much more with them than to simply set an alarm. Even for those who really love their morning sleep, there are quite a few alarm apps that can help you ensure you are never late for work again.
But what about getting enough sleep? It certainly seems that most of us sleep too little and Apple’s added two new interesting functions into the iOS 10 Clock app. Once you find out how they work I’m sure you’ll want to use the iOS 10 Bedtime and Wake Alarm features too.
Wake Alarm tracks you sleep patterns, reminds you when it’s time to go to bed, and allows you to configure a specific alarm volume.
How to use the iOS 10 Bedtime and Wake Alarm features
To use this new feature, open the Clock app and go to the Bedtime tap. Then, select ‘Get Started’ and provide the requested information – at which time you want to wake up in the morning and the weekdays during which the alarm should be active.
Then, you’ll be prompted to set the number of hours of sleep you need each night. I’m sure most of us know how much sleep time we need, even if we rarely get it. To continue, you need to set when you want the app to notify you it’s time to go to bed and finally choose a sound for your alarm.
At this point, you should see the Wake Alarm sleep tracking screen which shows a graph with your daily sleep intervals based on the bedtime reminder and the alarm that goes off each morning. You’ll be able to access this feature in the Bedtime tap whenever you need to.
Once you’re happy with the settings hit the Save button. The bedtime notification lets you dismiss it by confirming you’re going to sleep or you can set it to pop back after a certain time.
In addition, you can head back to the Bedtime tab to readjust the Wake Alarm feature as needed. The current setting is displayed as an orange bar surrounding a large clock. You can easily change the wake-up time by dragging the bell icon and the bedtime by dragging the moon icon.
If you want to keep the same sleep interval, drag the semi-circle to the desired position. It’s also possible to customize the alarm volume for any Wake Alarm and you can access this setting in the Bedtime tab under Options.
