ExtraMagic: Alternate Windows driver for Apple Magic Trackpad with 3/4 Finger Gestures support & more
Extramagic is an innovative Windows driver that enables support for 3 and 4-finger gestures while using the Apple Magic Trackpad on your Windows PC or a Mac running Windows through Boot Camp.
The default functionality of the Apple Magic Trackpad in this scenario is limited to basic 1 and 2-finger gestures, making it only useful instead of a 2-button and scroll wheel mouse. This limitation is imposed by Apple, but with Extramagic you regain all of the OS X Magic Trackpad functionality on Windows and even more!
Extramagic allows you to perform the following 3 and 4-finger gestures on your Apple Magic Trackpad connected to a Windows PC or a Mac that runs Windows under Boot Camp:
- 3-finger dragging, 3-finger tap, 3-finger horizontal and vertical swipes
- 4-finger tap, 4-finger horizontal and vertical swipes
Furthermore, the supported gestures are customizable, in fact there are more configuration options than in OS X.
Extramagic supports all 64-bit versions os Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
Note: Even with this driver installed the built-in Boot Camp driver will continue to handle 1 and 2-finger operations. However, Extramagic does offer shortcuts to Boot Camp’s driver settings and additional accelerated/inverted scroll options.
The application is free to download and use, altough the developer will appreciate donations if you enjoy using his software.
The Extramagic setup package includes the Extramagic settings application and an exclusive Bluetooth HID driver developed by the Extramagic Team which enables detection of Magic Trackpad gestures in Windows.
