On Windows operating systems, the utility relies on Hyper-V, but you will also have the option to choose Oracle VM VirtualBox as a hypervisor, and it will automatically find and display the freshest Ubuntu images from Canonical.

All the Ubuntu instances are launched and initialized with cloud-init metadata that is similar to Oracle, IBM, Google, Azure, or AWS clouds, and its possible to simulate a small cloud deployment on a PC and even a laptop.
