Our computers are flawlessly connected with one another and the Internet, thanks to those network routers and switches, which quitely run in the background. However, this type of equipment needs to be properly configured and optimal parameters need to be maintained, in order for everything to work properly.

The vast majority of these devices can take CLI-based commands, but the lack of a graphical interface can make these tasks not just time consuming, but also confusing. TemplateFx is an application that makes it easy to create routers and switches configurations. It lets you create templates from raw data, thus allowing you to save a lot of time, as you can quickly edit the templates, to suit a variety of devices by using their specific parameters.

To create a template, you must have to enter the default data in plain text. There are some formatting rules to do this. Values need to be placed in clearly defined rows and columns, separated by tabs or commas so TemplateFx can accurately interpret the data.

Values can be imported from external files, such as Excel spreadsheets, to speed up data entry tasks for template creation. However, the format requirements still need to be followed. After all the template information and data has been added, an output is ready to be generated. This results in a ready to use collection of commands, that can be easily adapted for different devices, but also exported as a ZIP archive.
