GPAC: A great ross-platform multimedia framework for students and content creators

GPAC is a cross-platform multimedia framework that students and content creators can use to create open-source media under the LGPL license while also being compatible with a wide range of formats (e.g. AVI, MPEG, MOV), to more complex ones like (e.g. MPEG-4 Systems or VRML/X3D).

There are some key features of this framework that come with support local playback, adaptive HTTP streaming (MPEG-DASH, HLS), TCP, and TS demuxing (from file or DVB4Linux), and even local progressive download.

GPAC also comes with a complete package of plugins ( e.g. MPEG-4 scene decoder, MPEG-4 ODF object descriptor decoder, MPEG-4 LASeR scene decoder, MPEG-4 SAF demultiplexer, textual MPEG-4 loader (support for uncompressed MPEG-4 BT, XMT, VRML, and X3D textual formats), etc.

All in all, GPAC is a great cross-platform multimedia framework that students and content creators will enjoy, while also supporting a very wide variety of file formats, from simple to more complex ones.
