K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool can find and remove broken ACM/VFW codecs and DirectShow filters. It can also clear the Windows icon cache, re-register base DirectShow filters, backup, restore or reset settings as well as verify the speaker configuration.

In the main window, you can change the settings for the DirectShow filters in a dedicated screen and view ACM/VFW, DirectShow and source filters to repair any broken references. The application can also fix thumbnail settings for numerous video formats, such as AVI, WMV, MP4, MKV, MPEG, 3GP and FLV among others.
